More and more plastic surgery procedures are becoming less invasive. Nevertheless, plastic surgery is still surgery, and even relatively straightforward procedures, such as breast augmentation, require proper care and sufficient recovery time.
The Advanced Center for Plastic Surgery has compiled a list of recovery tips, and we’re here to share them with you.
By following these 8 tips, with the support of your loved ones, you can enjoy a smoother recovery and return to your everyday life feeling happier and more confident!
1. The Risk of Potential Complications Is Highest Immediately After Surgery
That is why it is extremely important to follow all the instructions provided by your surgeon. Carefully follow the advice of our surgeons, Dr. Matejin, Dr. Lizatović, and Dr. Panfilov, to minimize potential risks. They are always available to answer your questions, so never hesitate to ask!
2. Choose Someone to Support You During Recovery
From the day of your surgery, when someone will need to drive you to and from Clinic Olymp, until you have fully recovered, support from family and friends can make a significant difference. The first 2–3 days after surgery are often the most demanding, and you should avoid strenuous activities throughout your recovery period. Ideally, have someone at home who can help with everyday tasks and keep a smile on your face.
3. Be Prepared to Take Time Off Work
Taking a week or two off work, depending on your procedure and your surgeon’s recommendations, can help ensure a smoother recovery. Perhaps the summer of 2020 is the perfect opportunity to return to work after a well-deserved break, feeling happier and more confident?
4. Relax and Make the Most of Your Recovery Time!
One of the most important pieces of advice is, as always, to be patient. Relax and don’t rush back into your usual activities. Make recovery your priority. Enjoy the little things while a big change is taking place! Read that book your friends have been recommending, catch up on the latest season of your favorite Netflix series, or simply rest and enjoy spending time with the people who matter most.

5. Start a Healthier Eating Routine
A balanced, nutrient-rich diet can support your body’s healing process. Choose foods that provide adequate protein, vitamins, minerals, and energy to help your body recover. Explore nutritious recipes and ask a friend with excellent cooking skills to help you prepare delicious meals. Think of it as having a restaurant at home. After all, you’re taking some time off!
6. Put Your Workout Routine on Hold – We Know, It’s Tough!
When we said rest, we meant proper rest! You finally have a good reason to take it easy while doing something beneficial for yourself. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Avoid strenuous exercise and workouts until your surgeon gives you permission to resume them, as returning to physical activity too soon may interfere with healing. Gentle movement, such as short walks, may be encouraged depending on your procedure and medical advice.
7. Water, Water, and More Water!
Proper hydration is essential during postoperative recovery! Drinking enough water helps your body maintain its fluid balance and supports normal healing processes. Follow your medical team’s advice regarding fluid intake, and try to maintain healthy hydration habits even after you have fully recovered.
8. Avoid Sun Exposure and Excessive Heat
Harmful UV rays are not your friends during recovery and may contribute to more noticeable scars, particularly when healing skin is exposed to sunlight. You may also need to wear surgical dressings or compression garments, so avoiding excessive heat can help prevent sweating and irritation of healing tissues. Fortunately, with all the rainy days ahead, this might not be too difficult!
