Aqualyx Fat-Dissolving Treatment

Non-Surgical Fat Reduction with Aqualyx Intralipotherapy

Dietary habits, stress, and a lack of physical activity can contribute to the accumulation of excess body fat. Even with a balanced diet and regular exercise, some localized fat deposits can be difficult to reduce.

Intralipotherapy is a non-surgical procedure designed to target localized fat deposits through injections of Aqualyx, a medical product intended to disrupt fat cells and facilitate the body’s natural clearance processes.

Aqualyx is an injectable formulation containing deoxycholic acid derivatives. Its use is intended for selected areas of localized fat, rather than general weight loss or the treatment of obesity.

Aqualyx does not contain phosphatidylcholine. Its active ingredients act on fat tissue, and the treatment may cause temporary inflammation, swelling, tenderness, and bruising.

The treatment is not a substitute for liposuction, although different fat-reduction approaches may be discussed during a medical consultation. It is generally considered for carefully selected patients with localized fat deposits.

Preparation: Am I a Suitable Candidate?

A consultation is essential to determine whether Aqualyx is appropriate for your needs. During the appointment, your doctor will discuss your medical history, lifestyle, current health, and expectations, and explain the potential benefits and risks.

Aqualyx is a body-contouring treatment, not a weight-loss method. It may be considered for individuals who are close to their desired weight but have localized fat deposits that remain despite healthy eating and physical activity.

Depending on the product’s approved indications and the doctor’s assessment, treatment may be considered for areas such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, upper arms, and other suitable localized fat deposits.

Treatment may be unsuitable for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection in the treatment area, or have certain medical conditions, including significant liver or kidney disease, bleeding disorders, or other contraindications. Your doctor will assess your individual circumstances before recommending treatment.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

The procedure generally takes up to 30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Aqualyx is injected into selected localized fat deposits using a specific injection technique. The product acts on the targeted fat tissue, after which the body’s natural processes gradually remove the resulting cellular material.

Results develop progressively and vary between patients. The treatment should not be expected to tighten loose skin or prevent skin laxity in every case.

A course of approximately three to four sessions may be considered, with intervals of around three to four weeks, depending on the treatment area, the product’s instructions, and the individual’s response. Some patients may require fewer sessions, while others may not be suitable candidates.

The number of treatments and the expected results should be discussed with your doctor before starting the procedure.

Recovery and Precautions

Most patients can return to their usual daily activities shortly after treatment, although swelling and tenderness may affect comfort for several days.

Common temporary reactions include redness, bruising, swelling, itching, warmth, and pain in the treated area. These effects may last several days and occasionally longer.

Avoid excessive heat exposure, including saunas and sunbathing, while the treated area is recovering. Compression garments may be recommended for certain treatment areas if advised by your doctor.

Ask your doctor when it is appropriate to resume exercise or massage. Do not massage the treated area unless specifically instructed, as recommendations depend on the product and treatment site.

Adequate hydration and following your individualized aftercare instructions can support recovery.

Seek medical advice if you experience severe or worsening pain, increasing redness, fever, skin discoloration, or other unexpected symptoms.
