Under-Eye Bag Removal

How to Reduce Dark Circles and Under-Eye Hollows Quickly and Effectively

There are several methods for improving the appearance of dark circles and under-eye bags, ranging from surgical procedures such as lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) to non-surgical aesthetic treatments with hyaluronic acid fillers.

The most appropriate treatment depends on the underlying cause of the concern.

In some cases, excess fat tissue may need to be removed or repositioned surgically, particularly when prominent under-eye bags are present. In other cases, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers may help restore lost volume and reduce the appearance of hollow or shadowed areas beneath the eyes.

However, not all types of dark circles respond to fillers. Pigmentation, thin skin, and certain vascular changes may require alternative treatments.

Which treatment or surgical technique is most suitable for you?

Preparation: What Should You Know Before Under-Eye Correction?

Before undergoing any treatment, a medical consultation is necessary to determine the most appropriate approach.

At Clinic Olymp, consultations are free and available to anyone considering aesthetic treatment.

During your initial appointment, our doctor will examine the under-eye area, assess your facial anatomy, discuss your expectations, answer your questions, and explain the available treatment options.

Please arrive at your consultation without makeup, as this allows for a more accurate assessment of the skin and surrounding structures.

You should also avoid wearing makeup when attending your treatment appointment.

Treatment Technique: How Are Under-Eye Hollows Corrected?

If hyaluronic acid fillers are considered suitable, your doctor may apply a topical anesthetic cream before the procedure to minimize discomfort.

After approximately 15 minutes, the anesthetic cream is removed and the treatment area is carefully cleansed.

A specially selected hyaluronic acid filler is then precisely injected into the appropriate area beneath the lower eyelid, commonly known as the tear trough.

The treatment is performed with particular attention to the delicate anatomy surrounding the eyes.

Following the injections, the doctor may gently shape the filler, if appropriate, to achieve a smooth and natural-looking result.

The procedure usually takes approximately 30 minutes, and most patients can return to their normal daily activities shortly afterward.

Initial improvements may be visible immediately, although the final appearance is best assessed once any swelling has subsided.

The results of hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary. Depending on the product used, individual metabolism, and treatment area, results may last approximately 9 to 12 months or longer.

Maintenance treatments may be recommended following an individual medical assessment.

Recovery and Precautions

Following under-eye filler treatment, temporary redness, mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness may occur around the injection sites.

These reactions usually improve within several days, although swelling or bruising may occasionally persist longer.

During the first 24 hours after treatment, it is generally recommended to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and strenuous physical activity.

If mild swelling or bruising develops, your doctor may recommend carefully applying a cool compress without placing pressure on the treated area.

Avoid applying makeup directly over injection sites until your doctor advises that it is safe to do so.

Do not massage or press the under-eye area unless specifically instructed by your doctor, as inappropriate pressure may affect the filler or irritate the surrounding tissues.

Saunas, tanning beds, and excessive heat exposure should generally be avoided for approximately 3 to 4 days following treatment.

Although under-eye filler treatment is minimally invasive, the area around the eyes requires particular expertise because of its delicate anatomy.

Potential complications include persistent swelling, lumps, discoloration, asymmetry, and, rarely, vascular occlusion.

In extremely rare cases, accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause serious complications, including vision loss.

If you experience severe pain, unusual skin discoloration, sudden visual disturbances, or any other concerning symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.

Our medical team will provide personalized aftercare instructions to support your recovery.
