Wrinkle Treatments
“The heart has no wrinkles.” This famous saying reminds us that, regardless of age, we can continue to enjoy life and feel young at heart.
Elizabeth Taylor also once remarked: “If God had wanted us to have wrinkles, why would He have put them on our faces instead of the soles of our feet?”
Modern aesthetic medicine offers a range of minimally invasive and surgical techniques to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles and help us look as youthful and refreshed as we feel.
At Clinic Olymp, we offer several methods of wrinkle reduction:
- Wrinkle Reduction with Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers and Collagen StimulatorsHyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the body’s connective tissues, including the skin. It helps retain moisture, maintain volume, and support skin elasticity. As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin gradually decreases. Dermal fillers can help restore lost volume, smooth certain wrinkles, and create a fresher appearance.
- Wrinkle Reduction with BotoxBotox is one of the most popular non-surgical treatments for dynamic facial wrinkles. It is commonly used to soften crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and vertical frown lines between the eyebrows.
- Wrinkle Reduction with Your Own Fat Tissue (Lipofilling)Autologous fat transfer involves harvesting fat tissue from another area of the body, often the inner thighs, and carefully injecting it into selected facial areas. This procedure can restore lost facial volume, soften certain wrinkles, and improve facial contours using the patient’s own tissue.
For hyaluronic acid filler and Botox treatments, Clinic Olymp uses established aesthetic medicine products, including selected products from the Luminera Hydryalix, Crystalys, HArmonyCa, and Juvéderm ranges, as well as Botox and Vistabel. Product selection depends on the treatment area, individual needs, and current availability.

Facial Wrinkle Reduction Methods
Wrinkle Treatment with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin and other connective tissues. It helps maintain hydration, elasticity, and volume, contributing to a smoother and healthier-looking complexion.
As we age, the skin gradually loses hyaluronic acid and structural support, which can contribute to wrinkles, folds, and volume loss.
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can help restore volume, soften facial folds, and improve skin contours. When carefully administered, they can enhance facial features while preserving natural expressions and proportions.
Dermal fillers are commonly used to address nasolabial folds, lines around the mouth, selected facial wrinkles, and certain areas of volume loss.
They may also be used for cheek enhancement, lip augmentation, chin contouring, and selected treatments involving the under-eye area, neck, or hands, depending on the product and medical indication.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are frequently combined with Botox treatments when both static wrinkles and expression lines need to be addressed.
Preparation: Ensuring a Comfortable Treatment
Hyaluronic acid fillers can improve the appearance of fine lines, deeper facial folds, and selected areas of volume loss. However, the suitability of the treatment depends on the condition of the skin and the underlying cause of the wrinkles.
During your free consultation with Dr. Predrag Matejin or Dr. Dario Lizatović, you will discuss your goals and expectations, and your doctor will recommend the most appropriate dermal filler or combination of treatments.
Before the procedure, you will be asked to remove any makeup from your face.
A topical anesthetic cream may be applied to minimize discomfort during the injections. After approximately 10 to 15 minutes, the cream is removed, the skin is cleansed, and the treatment can begin.

Treatment Technique: How Do Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Rejuvenate the Face?
Wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid fillers is performed on an outpatient basis and generally takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes.
After applying a topical anesthetic, when needed, and cleansing the skin, the doctor carefully injects the filler into the selected areas using fine needles or cannulas.
Throughout the procedure, your doctor can explain the amount of filler being administered and discuss the developing results.
The treatment is minimally invasive and generally well tolerated, although some discomfort, swelling, or bruising may occur.
Initial improvements are usually visible immediately after the injections.
Dermal fillers can provide noticeable facial rejuvenation without surgery, but they cannot reproduce the results of a surgical facelift in patients with significant skin laxity.
Results commonly last approximately 9 to 12 months, although the duration varies depending on the treatment area, filler formulation, individual metabolism, and other factors.
Maintenance treatments may be recommended to preserve the desired appearance. The frequency of repeat treatments should be determined individually, taking into account the condition of the tissues and any previous filler applications.
Recovery and Precautions
During the first 24 hours after treatment, mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising may develop around the injection sites.
These reactions generally improve within a few days, although some swelling or bruising may last longer.
Most patients can return to their usual activities shortly after treatment.
The final appearance is typically assessed after approximately one to two weeks, once the initial swelling has subsided.
During the early recovery period, your doctor may recommend avoiding excessive sun exposure, saunas, tanning beds, certain laser treatments, and direct pressure on the treated areas.
Although hyaluronic acid fillers are widely used, complications can occur. These include infection, asymmetry, lumps, delayed inflammatory reactions, and, rarely, vascular occlusion, which may cause tissue damage or visual complications.
Severe pain, unusual skin discoloration, or changes in vision following treatment require immediate medical attention.
You can choose to discontinue future filler treatments at any time. However, existing filler may remain in the tissues for some time, and stopping treatment does not reverse any complications that may have occurred.
Botox Treatment for Wrinkle Reduction
Botox is one of the most widely used aesthetic treatments for reducing dynamic facial wrinkles.
Botox contains purified botulinum toxin type A, a substance derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When administered in carefully controlled doses, it temporarily reduces the activity of selected facial muscles.
This helps soften wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions.
Botox is commonly used to treat:
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
- Selected wrinkles on and around the nose
- Certain chin and upper lip expression lines
Botulinum toxin may also be used for selected medical conditions, including chronic migraine, certain muscle spasms, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), depending on the indication and the specific product used.
In aesthetic medicine, carefully selected treatments may also help address certain eyebrow asymmetries.
When Is Botox Not the Right Option?
Botox is primarily effective for wrinkles caused by muscle movement. It is generally less effective for deep static wrinkles, sun-related skin damage, scars, or significant loss of facial volume.
Although botulinum toxin can be used in selected areas of the lower face, treatment requires particular care because these muscles are involved in essential functions such as speaking, smiling, and eating.
For this reason, Botox is sometimes combined with hyaluronic acid fillers to address different types of facial aging.
Preparation: What Should You Know Before Botox Treatment?
Successful Botox treatment begins with a detailed assessment of your facial muscles, expressions, and individual anatomy.
During the consultation, your doctor will evaluate the areas of concern and determine the most appropriate injection sites and doses.
It is important to inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding, or have a neuromuscular disorder.
You should also disclose any medications you take, previous botulinum toxin treatments, and relevant medical conditions.
If you are unsure whether Botox is suitable for you, we invite you to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Lizatović.

Treatment Technique: Quick and Minimally Invasive
When injected into selected facial muscles by a qualified medical professional, Botox temporarily blocks the nerve signals responsible for muscle contraction.
By reducing excessive muscle activity, the treatment helps soften existing expression lines and may reduce the formation of additional dynamic wrinkles.
The effect is temporary, and muscle activity gradually returns as the treatment wears off.
Initial results may become noticeable within a few days, while the full effect is generally assessed after approximately 10 to 14 days.
Common treatment areas include the forehead, the area between the eyebrows, the outer corners of the eyes, and selected areas around the mouth and chin.
The procedure usually takes approximately 30 minutes and is generally performed without anesthesia.
Recovery and Precautions
Most patients can resume their usual daily activities immediately after Botox treatment.
Minor redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising may occur at the injection sites.
The first results often become noticeable within 2 to 3 days, with the full effect generally developing over approximately 10 to 14 days.
Results typically last around 3 to 4 months, although some patients experience a longer duration of effect.
Repeat treatments may be considered when muscle activity and expression lines gradually return.
Possible side effects include temporary headache, bruising, localized muscle weakness, and, occasionally, drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow.
Rare but serious complications can occur if the toxin affects muscles beyond the intended treatment area. Difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing requires immediate medical attention.
After treatment, your doctor may recommend avoiding strenuous physical activity and excessive alcohol consumption for approximately 24 hours.
You may also be advised to avoid excessive heat exposure, saunas, tanning beds, and facial massage or other treatments that place pressure on the injection sites during the initial recovery period.
Always follow your doctor’s personalized aftercare instructions.
Wrinkle Reduction with Your Own Fat Tissue
Wrinkle reduction with autologous fat transfer, also known as facial lipofilling, is a technique designed to restore lost facial volume and improve contours using the patient’s own fat tissue.
The aim is to create a fresher, more youthful appearance while preserving natural facial characteristics.
During the procedure, fat is harvested through a minimally invasive liposuction technique, usually from the inner thighs or another suitable donor area.
The collected fat is processed and carefully injected into selected facial regions to restore volume and soften certain wrinkles.
Because the treatment uses the patient’s own tissue, it avoids the need for synthetic dermal fillers. However, some of the transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed, and results vary between individuals.
As we age, the skin gradually loses elasticity, collagen, and underlying fat volume. The cheeks may become flatter, facial folds more noticeable, and the overall appearance less full.
Fat transfer can help restore volume to selected areas around the cheeks, mouth, and other parts of the face.
It may also improve the appearance of certain facial folds and contour irregularities.
One of the potential advantages of facial lipofilling is that a portion of the transferred fat may survive long-term, providing lasting volume enhancement.
However, the final result depends on individual healing, fat survival, and the technique used.
Preparation: How Should You Prepare for Facial Lipofilling?
Facial lipofilling may be suitable for adults experiencing facial volume loss, hollow areas, or age-related changes in facial contours.
Although these concerns are common between the ages of 35 and 55, suitability is determined by individual anatomy, medical history, and treatment goals rather than age alone.
The first step is a free medical consultation.
During your appointment, the doctor will examine your face, assess visible signs of aging, and discuss the most appropriate areas for treatment.
Your surgeon will explain the procedure, expected results, recovery process, and potential complications.
Before surgery, you may also have the opportunity to review the proposed treatment areas in front of a mirror and participate in planning the desired facial contours.
It is important to inform your doctor about previous procedures, current medical conditions, medications, supplements, and allergies.
Some of this information will be collected through a medical questionnaire before your consultation.
Certain medications and supplements, including aspirin-containing products and vitamin E supplements, may need to be adjusted before surgery because of their potential effects on bleeding.
Hormonal medications should also be discussed with your doctor. Never discontinue prescribed medication without medical advice.

Treatment Technique: Facial Fat Transfer
Facial lipofilling may be performed under local anesthesia and typically takes up to 60 minutes, depending on the extent of the procedure.
The planned amount of fat tissue is harvested, commonly from the inner thighs, using micro-liposuction and thin cannulas.
The collected fat is then processed, often through centrifugation or filtration, to prepare it for transfer.
Using fine cannulas, the surgeon carefully injects small quantities of the prepared fat into the selected facial areas.
The fat is distributed in multiple layers to help achieve smooth contours and support integration with the surrounding tissues.
Some of the transferred fat will naturally be reabsorbed during the healing process. The amount varies, so the surgeon may account for expected volume loss when planning the procedure.
At Clinic Olymp, additional harvested fat tissue may be preserved under specialized storage conditions for potential future treatments, where medically appropriate and in accordance with applicable protocols.
Autologous fat transfer can also be used for other selected procedures, including scar correction, hand rejuvenation, and certain body contouring treatments.
Recovery and Precautions
After facial fat transfer, the treated areas may appear swollen, tender, or bruised.
These effects generally improve over several days, although residual swelling may last longer.
Bruising and swelling may also occur at the fat donor site and can take approximately 2 to 3 weeks to resolve.
Your surgeon may recommend carefully applying cold compresses to help reduce swelling, provided this does not place excessive pressure on the treated areas.
During recovery, maintain appropriate facial hygiene and follow your surgeon’s specific wound care instructions.
Most patients can return to light everyday activities within approximately 2 to 5 days, depending on the extent of the procedure and individual recovery.
Strenuous physical activity and prolonged sun exposure should generally be avoided for approximately two weeks or as recommended by your surgeon.
The final results develop gradually as swelling subsides and the transferred fat stabilizes.
Possible complications include infection, asymmetry, contour irregularities, fat necrosis, and unpredictable fat retention. Rare but serious vascular complications are also possible.
Your surgeon will explain the expected recovery and provide personalized postoperative guidance.
